Micron has announced two new SSD lines, the P200 and C200-series. The C200-series is the one that will be most interesting to consumers, and Micron calls it a client-focused product. The P200-series, on the other hand, is meant for the enterprise market and will most likely carry a much steeper price tag.
The C200-series is MLC-based and will be available in either 2.5 or 1.8in form factors. The 2.5-inch models will be available in sizes up to 256GB while the 1.8-inch models will be limited to 128GB in comparison. Both models will feature SATA interface and provide read speeds of up to 250MB/s and write speeds of up to 100MB/s, beating just about every single competitor on the market today.
The P200-series is SLC-based and this alone points at these drives being very expensive. The P200-series will only be available in a 2.5-inch form factor and will come in sizes from 16 to 128GB. What sets the P200-series apart is the quoted sequential read and write speeds which are both meant to be able to reach 250MB/s, which again crushes the competition in terms of performance.
Both the C200 and P200-series are expected to launch in Q4 this year, so you have plenty of time to save up until the launch, although no pricing was announced.

finde ich toll, dass langsam schnellere platten auf dem markt kommen... jedoch kann ich mir bei weitem nich vorstellen, dass diese auch zu einen erschwinglichen preis zu kaufen sind...
derzeit liegt der preis einer ssd von ocz mit 32gb,90mb max. schreiben und 140mb lesen bei gut 140€
is schon viel, aber wenn man bedenkt dass die vor nem jahr noch um die 1000€ gekostet haben...
jedoch noch schnellere platten wird es nicht geben mit der sata 2 schnittstelle: die is bei 300mb/s begrenzt.
